ICT in Science Education Search This page contains information and interactive tutorials on use of technology in Science Education To print any of the word or PDF documents download and save to PC first, then print the saved document          ICT in Science modules These modules have been produced by NCTE in conjunction with the Junior Science Support Service. Each module gives instructions on how to use technology to support investigative science. Included in each module are a number of exercises for you to practice the skills learned. The resources needed for these exercises can be found on the JSSS CD. To find them click on my computer, right click on JSSS_CD4 and select explore. The resources are in a folder called ICT modules. Module 1-Exploring real data This module shows you how to work with data using both Excel and graphing software. It includes basic instructions on datalogging. Download document Module2-Enhancing coursework This module shows you ways to include technology tools when carrying out investigations. Download document Module3-Learning styles This module shows you ways to use technology to support different learning styles in the classroom. Download document Interactive tutorials The following tutorials are in the form of interactive movies. Follow the instructions on the screen. Some of the actions are done for you, some you will have to perform yourself. Using graphs and charts in Excel Follow the instructions on the screen to learn how to produce graphs in Excel. When the first screen appears, click next in the bottom right corner to start the tutorial. Anotating charts in Excel This tutorial will help you to add features such as callouts that will enhance graphs and give added teaching value. View tutorial Creating dynamic charts This tutorial will show you how to create dynamic graphs. The graph is drawn as Students enter data manually. View tutorial Creating graphs with three variables This tutorial shows you how to produce a graph with two Y axes. View tutorial Examining data This tutorial shows you how to import and examine data using graphing software. View tutorial Graphs with three variables using graphing software This tutorial shows you how to use graphing software to toggle between different Y axes. View tutorial Synchronising video with data This tutorial shows you how to synchronise a videocl with a data set. The graph is drawn on the screen as the investigation proceeds in the video. View tutorial Tutorial movies Using a sound editor This movie shows you how to use the sound editor Audacity to examine the sound produced by a whistle. View movie Using a sound editor to calculate the speed of sound This movie shows you how the sound produced by a simple click of the fingers can be used to see how fast sound travels.
